Gov’t objects IGAD’s share proposal for greater upper Nile saying will divide the country

JUBA JUNE 17,2015 (NASS) - The government has objected the IGAD proposal that grants splm in opposition 53% power sharing ratio in greater upper Nile saying it is unacceptable

Speaking on Friday after talks with the Japanese ambassador Kiya masahiko, the deputy minister of foreign affairs and member of government delegation to peace talks, peter Bashir Gbandi says such proposal will divide the country.

He further said it’s unfair to give the government 33% power-sharing ratio in Upper Nile since the government is in control of most of the counties in greater upper Nile.

Gbandi However said he has no doubt, and very optimistic that peace will happen this year explaining that almost all contentious issues were exhausted urging Japanese investments to venture south sudan
